Hildegard of Bingen invocations

Vida Vojić invokes the spirit of Saint Hildegard, by singing her medieval chants accompanied by the glass harp, subtle electronics, spatial feedback and light design, in delicate response to the liturgical season.

Hildegard of Bingen was a prophetic Benedictine abbess and polymath during the 12th century Roman Germany, active as a music composer, preacher, writer, theologian, artist, playwright, herbal scientist, cosmologist and mystic. Canonized in 2012, she is today known as the patron saint of artists.

Performances so far include venues such as Eric Ericssonhallen (Stockholm), Sancta Birgitta Klostermuseum (Vadstena), A Slice of Reality (London) as well as monasteries Abbaye de Keur Moussa (Keur Moussa, Senegal) and Shrine of Our Lady of Trsat (Rijeka, Croatia) (see full performance list below).

Vida also regularly offers the chants of St Hildegard during church services in London, at St Leonard's (Shoreditch), St Thomas' (Upper Clapton) and St John of Jerusalem (Homerton) under the musical direction of Deborah Pritchard.
